The eagle and hawk are very important in every Native American culture and especially in the Sioux (Dakota, Nakota, and Lakota) culture, they are symbolic in their religion and customs as well in many of their ceremonies.

The eagle represents freedom, but more importantly, the Divine Spirit and connection to the Great Spirit or Grandfather. The hawk represents the Divine Messenger as well as having visionary powers.
